With the advent of the Nikon Z system, and the introduction of the new lens mount, suddenly every lens photographers already owned were immediately incompatible. Nikon considered this, and continued their tradition of excellent backwards compatibility with new products. With the FTZ adapter, you can autofocus any AF-S Nikon F-mount lens (lenses with a built-in focusing motor), or adapt and manually focus older Nikon lenses.
